US based International Rectifier (IR) manufactures power semiconductors that convert electrical energy to operate power supplies, lighting ballasts and motor drives.

Besides producing its patented Hexfet power switches (MOSFETs and IGBTs), the company supplies low voltage integrated circuits and microelectronic photovoltaic relays. The products are used in automotive, aviation, military, medical, space and industrial applications.

Founded in Los Angeles in 1947, IR employs around 5,000 staff worldwide and is listed on the S&P 400 stock market index.
